Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Whitewater Physiotherapy provides clinic or in-home assessment and treatment for all musculoskeletal conditions. Examples are:

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation for fractures, tendon repairs and joint replacements
  • Treatment of back, neck and limb joint or muscle pain, injury or degeneration such as arthritis, disc herniation, sciatica, rotator cuff tendinosis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, piriformis syndrome, patella-femoral pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis etc.
  • Prescription and fitting of generic splints and braces
  • Referral and follow-up for custom splints and braces (eg to local orthotist or chiropodist)

The key to effective treatment is an accurate diagnosis. We provide a detailed assessment, which includes a complete picture of your mobility impairment history and a thorough physical examination. From there we discuss the assessment findings, treatment plan and goals of intervention – not just for symptom management, but to address the root of the problem. This typically requires changes to posture, work habits and daily functional activities, as well as performing regular therapeutic home exercises.

Types of treatment provided may include range of motion, stretching, strengthening, gait training, functional exercises, manual therapy and modalities such as ultrasound, TENS or electrical muscle stimulation.
