Vestibular Physiotherapy
Vestibular dysfunction can cause dizziness, vertigo, nausea, imbalance, falls, fractures and reduced independent mobility.
Physiotherapy treatment can address and improve certain types of vestibular problems. At Whitewater Physiotherapy, Mark Peever has experience treating benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD). These conditions can arise from otolithiasis, vestibular neuritis or labyrinthine concussion. Loss of vestibular function can also be caused by certain ototoxic aminoglycoside antibiotics. Mark has been trained in and has practiced the various maneuvers that can help relocate or settle “debris” that can float through the semicircular vestibular canals, causing nystagmus and vertigo.

Mark received training in vestibular rehabilitation from Fay B. Horak, Ph. D., P.T., – an internationally recognized expert in research and treatment of vertigo, disequilibrium, motor coordination and postural control. He has also completed the Canadian Falls Prevention Curriculum. This continuing education, paired with over 30 years of clinical experience provides an excellent “tool box” to help patients maximize treatment outcomes in this area.
